If you ask us what we do, the simple answer is that we run boat trips.
But the truth?
That’s only a small part of the story.
What we really do is create experiences on the water.
From A to B… to Something Much More
Years ago, running a passenger boat business was straightforward.
You travelled from A to B, or maybe ran a circular harbour tour, and that was enough. People enjoyed the view, felt the sea breeze, and went home happy.
But times have changed.
Today, people want more.
More excitement.
More variety.
More memories.
They want to try something new, taste local produce, celebrate special occasions, and spend meaningful time with friends and family. A simple boat trip is lovely—but an experience is unforgettable.
The Question We Ask Every Day
In our office, there’s one question that comes up again and again:
“What can we do that’s new?”
Closely followed by:
- What do people want right now?
- How can we make things better?
- How do we make every trip feel special?
That’s where the magic begins.
Because we don’t just sell boat trips anymore—we build experiences that include a boat trip as part of the story.
Turning Ideas Into Experiences
Sometimes it starts with a simple question:
- Does it include food or drink?
- What makes it memorable?
- What makes it different?
That’s how ideas grow into events like:
- Murder mystery cruises 🕵️♀️
- Dinosaurs on the quay 🦖
- Traditional fish & chip cruises 🍟🐟
- Themed evenings and live entertainment 🎶
Each one starts as a thought scribbled down in a brainstorm session… and slowly turns into something real.
Behind the Scenes — It’s More Than Just an Idea
Creating an experience takes careful planning. Lots of it.
We ask questions like:
- How much will it cost to put on?
- What margins do we need to make it viable?
- Who do we partner with?
- Which marketing channels will help sell it?
Once the numbers stack up, the real work begins:
- Booking suppliers
- Briefing the teams
- Loading the experience onto our website
- Creating social media campaigns
- Listing with third-party sellers (while keeping a close eye on margins!)
And then there are the event sheets—the detailed plans that tell our operational teams exactly what needs to happen to deliver the experience smoothly.
Because when passengers step onboard, everything needs to feel effortless.
Is It Easy? Absolutely Not.
Creating standout experiences takes time, creativity, teamwork, and plenty of trial and error.
But it’s essential.
Passenger boat businesses in the UK today have to evolve to survive and grow. Standing still simply isn’t an option.
So we keep thinking.
Keep testing.
Keep searching for the next great idea.
What Makes It All Worthwhile
At the end of the day, it’s not just about ticket sales.
It’s about the message that lands in our inbox afterwards.
The review that says:
- “We had the best time.”
- “We made amazing memories.”
- “We’ll definitely be back.”
That’s the moment that makes all the planning, brainstorming, and hard work worthwhile.
Because while we may run boat trips…
What we truly create are moments people remember long after they step back onto dry land. 🚤💙
