Position Summary:
As a Crew Member / Bar Person, you’ll be a key part of the onboard team, responsible for both guest service and safe boat operations. You’ll serve drinks and snacks, keep the boat clean and welcoming, and assist the captain with docking, safety procedures, and passenger care. This is a dynamic, hands-on role suited to someone friendly, hardworking, and ready to work in a unique environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Service & Bar Duties
- Prepare and serve drinks and snacks from the onboard bar.
- Handle cash/card transactions and operate the till.
- Keep the bar area clean, well-stocked, and organized.
- Provide friendly, professional service and interact positively with guests.
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws and company alcohol policies.
General Crew Duties
- Assist with docking and mooring operations.
- Carry out safety checks and help with emergency drills.
- Greet passengers and offer assistance during the cruise.
- Maintain cleanliness of all public areas on board (including toilets if needed).
- Support setup and cleanup for private hires or special events.
Health & Safety
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
- Help manage passenger safety and comfort during boarding, cruising, and disembarking.
- Report any issues or incidents to the captain or operations team.
Requirements:
Essential
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Confident handling drinks and working behind a bar.
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual tasks and working outdoors – an ML5 medical certificate will be required to prove fitness (obtained from your own doctor)
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A positive, team-player attitude.
Desirable
- Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, or maritime roles.
- Personal Licence or basic knowledge of alcohol laws.
- Basic first aid or safety training (can be provided).
- Maritime safety or crew certification (preferred but not required).
